Bansko is Bulgaria's No.1 ski resort – by far
the most modern ski centre of all Bulgarian ski resorts.
In recent years the ski centre has had millions of
Euros spent in upgrading its facilities. The investment
was made by a company called Ulen, which now runs
and manages the skiing in this resort. The Bansko
Gondola station immediately gives you the impression
of a first class ski resort. Pirin Place apartments
are just across the road. Bansko has a long ski season
which can begin mid December and run through to early
May. Currently Bansko is investing in all aspects
to create a perfect environment for skiers to have
great holiday. A brand new resort area with super
luxury hotels and holiday apartments is being developed
just opposite the Gondola, which also makes Bansko
the choice when considering Bulgaria for a winter
holiday.
The town of Bansko is located 925 m. above sea level.
The Pirin mountain has a predominantly Alpine character
and highest peak in the area is Vihren 2914 m. which
you will see as you step our of the apartment to walk
to the Gondola across the road. The ski pistes are
located in two main ski centres and are approximately
10 kilometers above the town on the northern slopes
of Pirin at around 2000m. The total length of the
marked pistes is 65 kilometers. Although the resort
has only really been known for around 10 years it
is fast becoming a popular alternative to some of
the more famous European ski resorts. With 44 Techno-Alpine
snow cannons and 12 state of the art Kassbohrer slope
maintenance vehicles the ski season is guaranteed
to last longer. The Banskoslopes and tracks suit both
beginners and experts and are perfect for family ski
holidays.
Snowboard freaks can enjoy the Balkans fun park where
people from all over the world are led by the passion
of this newer extreme sport. They can build jumps
suiting their taste and abilities. Every day skiers
and snowboarders can take part in the competitions
on the new piste on Shiligarnika. The lifts near the
Pirin Place apartment in Bansko takes care for the
maximum comfort of the skier and snowboarders with
the exclusive new 8-seat Gondola cable car taking
you for a 20 min ride to the main skiing pistes of
Bansko. The total length of the wire equipment in
the resort is 26 kilometers. All ski equipment can
be used by special chip cards purchased at the Gondola
station or ski rental shops.
Total length of marked ski runs, including
ski roads: 65 km

of lowest ski run: 990 m

THE APARTMENT IS ONLY METRES FROM THE SLOPES
Bansko is a resort which is developing at
a pretty fast pace. The Resort Manager, Ulen
provides
new opportunities for the skiers, for the snowboarders,
biathlon and cross country skiing. There are
two very new pistes and for extreme skiers there
is the fun park zone. One of the pistes
connects Platoto with the Jelezen area and the
other is from Kolarski to Banderishka Polyana.
There is also a new 7 kilometers long (floodlit)
ski road between Banderishka Polyana and the
town. This means you can leisurely ski all the
way from the upper Gondola station all the way
back to the town to only a few metres from the
Pirin Place apartment! Dropping in to Happy
End for a hot wine of course.
Some of the pistes offer wonderful conditions
for night skiing, which is available for everyone
from 18.30 until 21.30. Also, the half -pipe
located near Bansko’s famous snow towers
offers both skiers and snowboarders an arena
to boast their latest tricks.
Without a doubt Bansko can offer fantastic
skiing and boarding for all levels making this
a premier family resort at a fraction of the
cost of Europes more well known ski resorts.
NEW STATE OF THE ART GONDOLA
A new 8 seat Gondola ski lift started working
during 2006 and is over 7 kilometers long
and connects the town with Banderishka meadow.
Get the incredible feeling of flowing
over the snow slopes of Pirin Mountains towards
the peak. The resort has 26 kilometers
ski- lifts with staff ready to assist skiers at
all times. Your ski lift pass is also state of
the art
and is placed on the left side of your ski jacket
and activates the gate without contact.
There are also new four seater lifts from Banderishki
to Kolarski road and from Zelezniq
Bridge to Platoto. A Drag lift serves the right
part of “Tomba” slope for beginners.
SKI EQUIPMENT FOR CHILDREN
There is a ski kindergarten for kids from 4
to 7 years old with new drags and a ski run. The
resort offers a Junior Club ski kindergarten with
3 baby drags, a Wonder Carpets baby
track, and a winter/ summer rotunda type Kinder
Carousel.
The total number of baby drags is 10, each are
around 100m in length.
APRES SKI
The unique combination of a well
developed mountain resort and the historical town
of
Bansko turns it into a super, quite enchanting
place for entertainment. Virtually every
house has its own story to tell, which indeed
can turn your vacation into a journey in to the
Bulgarian traditions. The traditional Bansko taverns
(called "Mehana"), with their
exceptional charm and style offer local atmosphere
by their cuisine and good selection of
Bulgarian wines. Most of the local "Mehanas"
even offer live folk music. Discos and night
clubs go on to the early hours for those who have
the energy after riding the slopes all day.
Probably the best Apres Ski venue is the HAPPY
END which is conveniently next to
the Gondola and a very short, staggering distance
from the Pirin Place apartment!
Enjoy hot toddies or a great meal and then later
(if you have the staying power)
dance the night away or listen to great music
from the live band.
MEDICAL & DENTAL SERVICE
The Emergency SKI PATROL service
is available 24 hours a day. Ambulance and clinic
(with doctor and nurse) are also available, as
well as first aid. Fully equipped and
functioning hospitals are available in Bansko
and the nearby towns. Highly qualified
dentists are available at the resort too.
Pharmacies are also available at
the resort.
Remember to arrange
holiday Insurance before your trip!
